Reflecting on 2025: Gratitude, Leadership, and the Moments That Matter

As 2025 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the moments that shaped this extraordinary year. From personal milestones to unforgettable keynote speaking engagements, and from challenges faced to lessons learned, each experience deepened my gratitude in my personal life and reaffirmed, professionally, why this work has been my calling since high school.

Whether at leadership conferences, association events, or corporate gatherings, these moments reminded me that meaningful connection, resilience, and purpose sit at the heart of lasting impact.

1. A Jubilee Journey with Family
One of the most meaningful experiences this year was taking my wife’s parents and my parents to Europe for the Jubilee Year. We traveled through England, France, and Rome, visiting sacred sites such as Our Lady of Lourdes and the Vatican.

The highlight? Watching our parents light up over a simple orange juice maker at the hotel — a powerful reminder that joy is often found in the smallest moments.

2. Finding Home Just Five Houses Away
We never imagined we’d buy a house five doors down from my parents. What felt improbable became a once-in-a-lifetime blessing, allowing us see them nearly every day and build memories beyond what we ever hoped for. This experience reinforced a leadership lesson I often share with audiences: proximity and presence matter, both at home and at work.

3. Making a Local Impact
Speaking at a national conference in Seattle while also working with local clients was especially meaningful this year. Being able to make an impact in my own backyard, alongside government and school leaders, reminded me that leadership starts at the community level. Partnering with organizations that serve others with integrity and purpose continues to be with one of the most rewarding aspects of my work as a leadership keynote speaker.

4. A Vintage Adventure
In an unexpected twist, my wife and I dove into the world of vintage sourcing and furniture restoration. What began as curiosity turned into a rewarding creative outlet, a fun hobby we did not anticipate. It is a reminder that growth often comes from exploring new interests.

5. New memories with Lucky
Finally, some of the most magical moments were the ones spent traveling and having fun with our 11-year-old-dog, Lucky. Watching him enjoy new adventures while staying happy and healthy puts a smile on my face.
