LEADERSHIP IS MORE THAN JUST A TITLE

“Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It’s about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire team-mates and customers.”

Robin S. Sharma

Actions speak louder than words. We have all heard that popular saying, and it’s true. People are more likely to be inspired by what you do and seeing your actions align with your goals rather than by just talking about what it is you want to accomplish. The best way to lead is to lead by example, by demonstrating your commitment to achieving your goals .

In August I had the honor of partnering with Hesperia Unified School District for their All District Event where I was excited to help inspire over 2,500 dedicated staff members! During our time together we discussed how to cultivate resilience during challenging times, the importance of teamwork and working collaboratively to reach goals, and how to see obstacles as opportunity for growth and change. We also discussed the importance of recognizing the value that each person contributes to student success.

This event was not only inspiring for them, but for me as well as I reflected back on my school days and all the important adults who made a positive impact in my life, from the administrative staff to coaches, counselors, cafeteria workers, bus drivers…every adult who dedicated their time, energy, and effort to help students.

Building Resilience

Resilience is something you gain through experience, through overcoming challenges in the face of adversity, by making mistakes and picking yourself up when you fall. It is being able to continue momentum forward when you are faced with obstacles.

We all go through difficult moments. When you make it through something challenging you can learn a lot about your own inner strength. You start to build resilience and the confidence to face future challenges.

Life is a Team Sport

You are not alone in life. No matter what challenge you are faced with, there are other people who have gone through or are going through the same thing. The key is to reach out and ask for help, be vulnerable, share with others, and also offer your help in return. By doing this it gives you the opportunity to make meaningful connections with others going through similar situations in life. This allows you to support and help each other along the way. It is important to have people in your corner who can support you, especially during difficult times. When we work together to achieve similar goals we can go much farther.

Obstacles as Opportunity

How we approach obstacles can determine the outcome. Embracing obstacles as chances for growth can lead to personal development and resilience. By shifting our mindset, we are able to see more possibilities and can transform challenges into stepping stones towards success.

It is important to see obstacles as an opportunity to get to know yourself, to learn something in the process, and as a way to build strength and character.
